The state is now taking applications for the Pre-K lottery!

Don’t miss this opportunity for a free, high-quality prekindergarten experience for your child

The Rhode Island Prekindergarten Program, entering its 10th year, provides free, high-quality prekindergarten classes to children selected by a lottery that will be held the first week in July. To be eligible, children must be 4 years old by September 1, and be residents of one of the 11 cities or towns that have a state prekindergarten classroom.

You can apply online here. (Para verlo en español, vaya a “Select Language” en la parte superior izquierda de la página.)

If you prefer, you can download a paper application in English or Spanish and return it to the programs of your choice. You can apply to as many programs as you wish in your community.

The deadline for applications is July 2. You will learn on July 5 if your child was selected in the lottery.

You will probably find answers to your questions about the PreK Program here in FAQ English or here en español. If you have an additional question, please contact Freddy Lopez at the RI Department of Education at Freddy.Lopez@ride.ri.gov or 222-8184. He will determine the appropriate person to address your question.
