The Providence Parent Academy offers a wide range of free workshops this spring

Ready to Learn is contributing to the Academy by facilitating several workshops

The Providence Parent Academy, a program of the Office of Family and Community Engagement at Providence Schools, helps families become more involved in the education of their children.

Learn more about everything from how to support your child’s social and emotional development to living a healthy lifestyle to summer opportunities for youth. Click here to see the entire Spring Schedule in English and Spanish. To register for a workshop, go to ppsdparentacademy.eventbrite.com or call (401) 456-0686.

The classes are free and child care for ages 5 to 12 is available. In most cases Spanish translation is available. Experts from the Providence Public School Department, Ready to Learn Providence and other organizations in the community facilitate the classes.

The workshops got under way in March, but many more are scheduled for April and May. Upcoming workshops facilitated by Ready to Learn include sessions on guiding children’s behavior, raising bilingual children and supporting the essential life skills successful children possess.

The photos shown here were taken April 2nd at a session on preparing your child for kindergarten, which was facilitated by Bethany Carpenter, director of Ready to Learn’s state-funded prekindergarten classrooms.
