Ready to Learn Providence has produced a set of Literacy Activity Kits, all of them chock-full of activities that parents and their children (ages 4 to 6) can enjoy and work on together. The kit titles are “Know Your Alphabet”, “Meet Three Little Pigs”, and “Lea Libros”, a bilingual kit in English and Spanish.
After reading two or three specific books available at the library, parents and children answer questions in the printed kit. These questions ask children to use other resource materials in the library, including dictionaries, maps, cookbooks, and other books by the same author.
The kits encourage children to explore print in three themed areas, including the alphabet, three versions of the same folktale, 
and bilingual folktales (Spanish and English). Practical tips for parents explain and extend the educational focus of the kits.
Ultimately, the complete series will include 10 kits, each highlighting a different area of literacy, such as writing, rhyming, math and conversation. Each kit features a different animal.
To date, three kits have been produced and distributed at the libraries. Keep a lookout for new animals and their kits.
