R2LP's Pre-K Classroom on the Liston Campus of CCRI will once again be participating in the state's Pre-kindergarten Program. The classroom, which has a five-star rating from BrightStars, will accommodate 18 children who will be chosen by lottery on August 19. There is no cost to parents for this program, and all families are encouraged to apply.
To be eligible for the R2LP classroom a child must be a resident of Providence and turn 4 years old by September 1. Children must attend school Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. from mid-September through mid-June. R2LP can assist parents in finding before- and after-school care at other sites, but parents are responsible for the cost of that care.
This will be the third year R2LP has participated in the Rhode Island Department of Education's Pre-kindergarten Program, which is designed to show the impact of high-quality early-care education on a child’s future academic career. Other sites participating in this year's program are Beautiful Beginnings and the Highlander Charter School/Mariposa Center in Providence, and the Westbay Children's Center and the Imagine Preschool @CCRI in Warwick. Parents may apply at more than one site if multiple sites exist in the city where they live. Proof of residency will be required upon enrollment.
For an application, please download this pdf. If you are applying for the R2LP program, return the completed application to Ready to Learn Providence, 945 Westminster Street, Providence, RI 02903, by August 15. (Completed applications must be returned to the program of choice; please do not submit applications to the Department of Education.)
If you need assistance in Spanish, please call R2LP at (401) 490-9960. For any other questions about the R2LP program, ask for Christine Chiacu-Forsythe.
