R2LP's AmeriCorps members work to promote early literacy programs for children of low-income and/or non-English speaking families; to create a real link between parents and child-care providers and their neighborhood libraries; and to build the capacity of child-care providers to improve the quality of their programs and to integrate early literacy activities into their programs.

A living allowance of $11,800

Training and experience in leadership, public speaking, child development, early childhood and literacy,

An educational award of $5,300 upon completion of 1,700 hours of service.
Applications for the 2011/2012 team will be available at R2LP and on line in the spring of 2011. The program runs from August through June.
