R2LP's current team of 35 members began its year of service on August 10, 2010.  See our AmeriCorps page to learn more about our new members and their work.

R2LP's AmeriCorps members work to promote early literacy programs for children of low-income and/or non-English speaking families; to create a real link between parents and child-care providers and their neighborhood libraries; and to build the capacity of child-care providers to improve the quality of their programs and to integrate early literacy activities into their programs.

Among the benefits to AmeriCorps members . . .

• A living allowance of $11,800
• Child-care allowance,
• Training and experience in leadership, public speaking, child development, early childhood and literacy,
• Three weeks vacation,
• Health insurance, and
• An educational award of $5,300 upon completion of 1,700 hours of service.

Applications for the 2011/2012 team will be available at R2LP and on line in the spring of 2011. The program runs from August through June.
