R2LP's current volunteers began their year of service on August 1, 2007.
10 are placed at Providence Public Library branches, and
20 are placed in a variety of early-care and education settings (child-care centers, Head Start, parent outreach programs, at R2LP, etc.) or serve as volunteer coordinators.

Together, the 30 members work to promote early literacy programs for children of low-income and/or non-English speaking families; to create a real link between parents and child-care providers and their neighborhood libraries; and to build the capacity of child-care providers to improve the quality of their programs and to integrate early literacy activities into their programs.
