About Ready to Learn Providence's Target Area

While Ready to Learn Providence is a citywide initiative, eight neighborhoods were designated as target neighborhoods.  They are Elmwood, Federal Hill, Hartford, Lower South Providence, Olneyville, Smith Hill, Upper South Providence, and the West End.  The decision to develop target neighborhoods was rooted in the belief that R2LP should devote a sizable portion of its limited resources to areas in the city where research indicates that investments are most needed and where they will have the greatest impact. 

To select these neighborhoods, R2LP ranked each of the city’s 25 neighborhoods by ten different factors related to child well-being.
