R2LP announces its summer courses for English- and Spanish-speaking family child-care providers

Topics range from including children with special needs in your program to incorporating yoga or nature into your curriculum to guiding children’s behavior. The following courses will be offered in English with support in Spanish:
Growing Up WILD
Growing Up WILD builds upon children’s natural sense
of wonder about nature. Early childhood educators
will discover and experience a range of nature/science
activities that are developmentally appropriate for ages
3 to 7. Participants will receive the Growing Up WILD
curriculum and skills to complete these activities with
September 12, 19 and 26, Wednesdays, 6 pm – 8 pm
Guiding Children’s Behavior
In Guiding Children’s Behavior: Support Social and
Emotion Development, educators will learn about
major milestones for children’s social and emotional
development, understand the wide variety of influences
on children’s development and learning, and plan
intentional learning experiences to support positive social
and emotional development.
September 29, Saturday, 9 am – 1 pm
Introduction to Mindfulness and Yoga in Early Childhood Settings
In this workshop, participants will learn the benefits
of mindfulness and yoga, including the latest scientific
research. They will also have experiential opportunities
to try various self-care practices as a tool for their own
health and well-being. Additionally, participants will
learn strategies for incorporating yoga/ mindfulness with
infants through five-year-olds.
The classes we’re offering this summer are funded by the Rhode Island Department of Human Services and Providence Talks. All of the classes have been approved by the Center for Early Learning Professionals.
