Give your prekindergarten children the skills they need to succeed

Families with children entering kindergarten in Providence next year can participate in this free workshop

Researchers have found that children who succeed in school possess seven essential life skills, such as the ability to focus, use what they learn creatively, and explain what they are thinking.

You can learn all about these skills with other families of prekindergarten children in Mind in the Making, a free eight-session workshop that is lively, fun and information. These classes are offered in both English and Spanish, and at different times throughout the week to accommodate different schedules.

This is not a workshop where participants listen while an instructor teaches. Everyone learns from the shared experiences of others, and laughter often fills the room. Within just a few weeks, a true community emerges and lasting friendships develop.

Kindergarten registration runs from January 16 to March 16. Click here for information. Ready to Learn will be at the Registration Center every day from 10 am to 2 pm to explain the Mind in the Making workshops.

You and your children will enjoy a free meal at every session, and your children can attend our popular child-care program while you’re in class.
