From 2006 to 2010, we conducted an Early Childhood Educator Professional Development (ECEPD) project, which was funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
Some 213 early childhood educators participated in this project — 71 center-based providers, 90 Head Start teachers, and 52 family child-care providers.
Over the course of two years, each participant completed two college-level, credit-bearing courses — HeadsUp! Reading and Early Literacy Curriculum. ECEPD participants also received six visits from mentors in their classrooms or family child-care homes, as well as additional support from our AmeriCorps members and various workshops and activities.
A rigorous evaluation of the impact this project had on participating educators and the children they worked with was completed in February 2011. Go here to see the Project Overview and Results.
