Professional Development

Teaching the teachers

To change the outcomes of inner-city children, R2LP invests heavily in the professional development of those who care for them in centers and home-based settings. Since 2003, more than 3,500 educators have participated in one or more of our programs.

By offering all our courses, materials and mentoring support in Spanish as well as English, we have filled an important niche in the urban neighborhoods of Providence, Pawtucket and Central Falls. Spanish-speaking home child-care providers serve a large population of young children in the state’s core cities.

R2LP funds its professional development programs with both public and private dollars. Initially, most of our work focused on Providence and nearby urban neighborhoods, but our programs now reach early childhood educators across the state.

“Thanks, R2LP, for working with us to ensure that our children enter school with a solid foundation, on a trajectory of success!”

R2LP works closely with BrightStars, the state’s quality rating and improvement system. With funds from local foundations, we provide centers and home-care settings with individualized assistance to help them develop an improvement plan and advance to a higher rating.
