On August 16, Ready to Learn Providence moved from its former quarters on Westminster Street to its new home at One Empire Street in a building that houses our parent program, University College at Roger Williams University. Being under the same roof with the college will facilitate future partnerships and programming.
The building, known as One Empire Plaza, sits at the corner of Washington Street and Empire Street. Across Washington Street, on the same side of the street, is the Providence Public Library (far left), and diagonally across from the building is the Trinity Repertory Theater (left).
Parking and other details
If you’re visiting us during the day for less than two hours, there’s usually plenty of metered space available on the nearby streets, especially on Washington Street, just above the library.
If you’re participating in one of our classes, you can park at the Civic Center Parking Garage at 165 Washington Street (shown at right), just beyond the Trinity theater and on the same side of the street. You will get your ticket validated at the front desk of the Roger Williams building, where you will also sign in. Tell them you are attending a Ready to Learn class.
The entrance to the building is just 100 yards or so down Empire Street. Right inside you’ll see the desk where you’ll sign in. (See photo below.)
Our offices and the two classrooms (rooms 548 and 546) that we’ll be using for most of our professional development classes are on the 5th floor. We’ll soon have plenty of signage there to help you find your way. When we have a particularly large class, we’ll use a classroom on the 4th floor.
Please drop by soon, if only for a quick visit. We’d love to show you our new space. Our new phone number is (401) 276-4820.
